At Least 150 Pro-Palestinian Protesters Arrested in London on Terrorism Charges

At least 150 people were arrested in London on Saturday under British terrorism laws during a protest of the government's decision to ban a pro-Palestinian activist group.
The group, Palestine Action, was designated a terrorist organization in July after two of its members broke into a British military base and damaged planes to protest Britain's military support for Israel. It was the first organization to be banned under a segment of Britain's legal definition of terrorism that covers serious property damage, rather than violence against people, to advance a political cause.
The designation put Palestine Action on the same legal footing as groups like Al Qaeda, and it criminalizes membership or involvement with the group, as well as some public expressions of support.
Saturday's arrests escalated the confrontation between the British authorities and supporters of Palestine Action over applying the terrorism law to protests, an otherwise protected form of expression in Britain.
As Big Ben struck 1 p.m., hundreds of protesters who had gathered outside Parliament took out pens and wrote "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action" on pieces of cardboard and paper, before sitting silently on the ground.

L.G.B.T.Q. Catholics Have Jubilee With Pope's Blessing, if Not His Presence
Source: nyt News • Published: 9/7/2025, 12:04:40 AM

Hundreds of L.G.B.T.Q. Catholics processed through the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica on Saturday to officially participate in the church's quarter-centennial festival of renewal and forgiveness, a marked sign of acceptance in a church in which many felt shunned or excluded until recently.
"It was a very special moment" for such Catholics to feel embraced, said Tyrone Grima, of Malta, who attended the event. For too long, they had "to hide, living in shame and guilt," said Nathalie de Williencourt, whose son is gay. Participating in the festival, known as a Jubilee pilgrimage, signaled greater public visibility and welcome, she said.
Francis DeBernardo, who runs New Ways Ministry, a Maryland-based group that promotes inclusion in the church, contrasted this Jubilee pilgrimage with the last one he took in 2000, when the Roman Catholic Church had spent months lobbying unsuccessfully to cancel the first WorldPride, which had been organized to take place in Rome that summer.
Speaking from a balcony overlooking St. Peter's Square on the Sunday after the pride parade, Pope John Paul II had expressed "bitterness," saying WorldPride was an affront to the church and the "Christian values" of the Italian capital.
"And here we are, 25 years later, and L.G.B.T.Q. people are going to go through the Holy Door as a group," Mr. De Bernardo said. Organizers said some 1,400 people from 22 countries participated.

Billionaire backer of NYC Democratic socialist Mamdani funds controversial 'woke math' program: report
Source: Fox News • Published: 9/7/2025, 12:00:11 AM

Philanthropist and billionaire heiress Liz Simons, who donated $250,000 to New Yorkers for Lower Costs, a PAC supporting Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, oversees a foundation that is reportedly behind the push to bring "woke math" to public schools.
Critics told the New York Post that the math program was aimed at turning children into socialist revolutionaries.
While a typical math problem challenges a child to answer a quantitative question, race-neutral math incorporates social issues into questions and doesn't focus on numbers alone. The outlet noted that while the approach has been embraced in states like California, others, including Florida, have rejected it.

The Heising-Simons Foundation, which Simons co-founded with her husband, Mark Heising, has given $1.7 million since 2023 to the Racial Justice in Early Mathematics (RJEM) Project at Chicago's Erikson Institute, according to the Post.
RJEM was established in December 2019 and led by Dr. Jennifer McCray, of the Erikson Institute, and Dr. Danny Bernard Martin, of the University of Illinois Chicago. A January 2023 press release by the Erikson Institute says the project "focuses on addressing issues of systemic racial injustices in the math education of young learners."

The statement goes on to describe RJEM's main goals as identifying issues of racial injustice in early math that spark "difficult (and often uncomfortable) conversations" about racism and offer educators the opportunity to develop practices "that foster racial justice."
On its website, the Heising-Simons Foundation says its mission is "to advance sustainable solutions in climate and clean energy, enable groundbreaking research in science, enhance the education of our youngest learners and support human rights for all people."

Mamdani, a self-described Democratic socialist, stunned observers when he secured the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor in June.
Despite his far-left stances, Mamdani has gotten the backing of Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y. Another establishment Democrat, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., meanwhile, has been more cautious of Mamdani.
Mamdani has also been supported by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and he hosted an event on Saturday in Brooklyn with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Heising-Simons Foundation for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
